OUR STORY

  • “Dahomey Paris” takes you on a cultural journey, celebrating the dynamic inspirations shared between Africa and the West. The son of a former senior member of Air Afrique, a Pan-African airline, our founder draws on his travel experiences, cultural exposure, and design background to initiate a dialogue that explores the intricacies of our human connection. Each design is imbued with a poignant sense of nostalgia, representing a specific time that has influenced and shaped him.

  • Our vibrant prints bring to life the rich colours and diverse cultures of the African continent, complemented by silhouettes that honour European tailoring. Each garment tells a story of artisanship, crafted from the finest locally sourced fabrics and adorned with traditional printing techniques such as Adire (tie-dye), sun bleached dye, woodblock print, and various others.
Each print is designed in the heart of London and brought to life by our skilled artisans, resulting in a captivating fusion of ideas that culminate in truly unique and authentic designs.

  • Dahomey Paris cherishes human connection and the preservation of the planet. By collaborating closely with communities of artisans and family-run ateliers in the UK, the brand fosters an eco-friendly system where humans and natural resources represent the true wealth. By supporting local artisans and sustainable practices, we want our garments to contribute positively to the world around us.

Our pledge to you is a journey filled with enjoyment and significance. Join us in embracing a new cultural narrative and making a statement for sustainability. Each piece is unique and captures a vibrant ambience with vivid prints and hues, celebrating the fusion of tradition and modernity.

OUR VISION OF A HARMONIOUS ECOSYSTEM BY DAHOMEY PARIS

“ESSENCE OF THE EARTH”

From the dawn of time, our heritage has guided us to embrace natural fibres. This choice honours the Earth and our commitment to sustainability. Our garments, woven from locally sourced cotton in the Gambia, Benin Republic, and South Africa, are a tribute to the land and its people. Our buttons, crafted from recycled mother-of-pearl, give new life to the remnants of the sea. As we grow, we explore other natural fibers like banana, seeking always to tread lightly upon the Earth.

“CRAFTING WITH ANCESTRAL WISDOM”

Our designs begin their journey in London, where dreams take shape before being lovingly reimagined by our artisans. This dance of creation fosters the sharing of wisdom and the blossoming of creativity. We embrace the beauty of eco-conscious dyeing techniques, such as Sun-bleaching and Adire (Tie-Dye). Unlike the impersonal nature of digital printing, our traditional methods breathe life into each garment, making every piece a unique testament to our heritage and craftsmanship.

“SPIRIT OF KINSHIP”

In the spirit of our ancestors, we honour the moral and economic dignity of all beings, cherishing each interaction in the creation of our garments. Our work is a dance of fair profit and generous giving, ensuring harmony between our success and the upliftment of our community. We stand firm in supporting local economies, nurturing the roots from which we draw strength, and contributing to the flourishing of every place we touch.

“OUR ARTISAN FAMILY”

Our family of artisans, spanning Africa and the UK, is the heart of our brand. With 75% of our partners being women, we build a community rooted in respect and longevity. We work hand-in-hand with our artisans, ensuring quality, consistency, and a safe, nurturing workplace. Our commitment extends beyond production; we offer financial and logistical support and conduct workshops to preserve and celebrate African savoir-faire.
