Our indigo pieces are hand-dyed by skilled artisans in Sukuta, who use traditional techniques like stitching, tying, and wax stamping to create unique resist patterns. Each piece is then dyed with natural materials like kola nut and indigo, resulting in charmingly simple depictions of African imagery with a delightful naif quality.
Sun Dyeing Technique
The sun dyeing technique is a fully hands-on process that begins with the collection of leaves, seedpods, and ferns. The fabric is laid out on the grass under the sun, and the light-sensitive dyes work their magic. This unique, meticulous process ensures that every piece is one-of-a-kind, reflecting the artistry and creativity of our artisans.
